Unit 9 - DMP - Task 1

Delivering A Music Product Task 1 – You need to create plans for 3 different sessions

1: Taking into account the comfort of the performer(s), and communication needs between performers and the producer, create a session plan detailing all equipment requirements, positioning and any additional equipment or needs, for a rock band session comprising a drummer, electric guitarist, bass guitarist and keyboard

2: Taking into account the comfort of the performer(s), and communication needs between performers and the producer, create a session plan detailing all equipment requirements, positioning and any additional equipment or needs, for a Hip Hop session, including a DJ (2 turntables), vocalist, and sequenced backing track.

3: Taking into account the comfort of the performer(s), and communication needs between performers and the producer, create a session plan detailing all equipment requirements, positioning and any additional equipment or needs, for a singer/songwriter session, including acoustic guitar and vocals.

For each session you will need to: Create a table listing the tracks/instruments to record, type of microphone needed, placement (close, ambient/room etc), type of mic stand, any additional info (pop shield, clips etc), Aux send (for headphones), cables & processing. You could also offer alternatives (e.g. if the equipment wasn’t available). You will also need to talk through setting up for the session in your own words. How will you manage the session? What order will you would record things? How will you get the best out of the artists? How will you capture the best quality recording possible? Try and include a back up plan for if things don’t go as planned.
